Looking for any possible gaps

Once the technologies from TDB (Technology Database) are selected and approved by the Head of Research after the first approval meeting, it is time to look for any possible gaps.

In order to explore new technologies, a crucial part of a research process embraces the task of exploring new sources. Sources are a great spring for novel ideas and it can come from many directions, such as science fiction, academic articles, patents and media. At the Sources section, more information is provided about how to add a new source and edit an existing one.

When relevant information is forecasted, it is key to evaluate how it will be embedded in our database. There are two ways that this process might take place:

  • Complement existing entry (priority) Before adding a new entry on TDB (either a new source, technology, organization, etc), it is important to evaluate if a similar concept is already on the database. If that is the case, the new information should be embedded in the existing entry.

  • Creating a new draft of a technology card A new entry should be added only if the forecasted information does not correspond to any other existing entry on TDB. It conforms to all types of entries, such a technologies, sources, and organizations.
