Organizations

An entry on TDB (Technology Database) to map and compile start-ups, companies, governments, institutions, universities, and organizations

An organization entry on TDB refers to companies, startups, research labs, universities and governments that are financing a technology development and/or one of our projects. All technologies must have at least three organizations following our guidelines.

Examples

  • If there is an acronym, add the acronym followed by the organization full name (ex: MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology)

  • When adding a research lab, refers to its university followed by the research lab name (ex: MIT Media Lab)

  • If you add a research lab that is related to another organization, add the related organization to TDB as well (ex: add MIT Media Lab and MIT)

  • NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration

  • LSE Behavioural Research Lab

  • Blizzard Entertainment

Directions

Don't

  • State objectively what the organization does using 300 characters on average, and minimum of 150

  • If there is an alternative name, use it on the description

  • When referring to a research lab owned by a university/company, mention it.

  • Don't copy+paste, edit the description you find

  • Don't use commercial jargon or adjectives to describe it

Founding year

  • If possible, use the information provided on the official website of the company

  • When an organization has been divided/sold/changed name there are several founding years, always use the most recent one.

Related to a college, academy, school, or other educational institution, especially one for higher education

Governmental

Belonging or relating to a government, including private-public orgs

Non-profit

Conducts business for the benefit of the general public without shareholders and profit as primarily motive

Not a public body that is operated for profit

Logo

Directions

Don't

  • The logo must have white or transparent background.

  • Prioritize logo compositions with square proportions.

  • Make sure to add the latest version of the logo.

  • When adding an image with transparent background, be sure to choose one with no white content.

  • Don't use icons with visual effects such as shadows, flares or volumetric representations.

  • Don't use monochromatic images or negative versions of the logo. All logos must have color elements and white background

  • Don't use logos alone. All images must have the company name.

  • Don't use logos with slogans or publicity images

  • Don't use product photos or screen captures as logos

  • Don't use small, rotated, misshapen or off-center logos
